I sit and look out upon what transpires around me. I hear whispers of loved ones as they spend their final moments together. I see hurt in the eyes of the replaced and forgotten. I see the fear in the mannerisms of those who are venturing into the unknown. The darkness that lies in front of them clouds the path beyond. I mark the number of unanswered “hellos,” each one accumulating on the backs of those who just want to end the loneliness. I see the wishes and expectations of others being thrust upon the individual who can’t find who they are. How can they, when one step outside of the set path is met with severe criticism? I observe innocence being lost in the hearts of the abused. A once soft personality hardens into stone. I observe the natural flow of life splitting apart what once tied two souls together. All these- All the sad truths of existence, I See, hear, and am powerless to stop because I am a victim of them as well.
